ALWAYS RECONFIRM THE DATE AND TIME OF YOUR SESSION ON THE DAY AS WE MAY BE AT THE MERCY OF WET WEATHER CONDITIONS AND POTENTIAL LAST MINUTE FIELD CLOSURES BY CENTENNIAL PARKLANDS TRUST.
We encourage all players to attend ALL grading/trial sessions to give the selectors the best opportunity to assess players as accurately as possible. Please let us know if your child is unable to attend any of the trial dates so the coaches can me made aware.
Why does QPFC Grade Players?
To ensure that teams have the opportunity to compete against teams of a similar skill and ability level we hold grading/trial sessions in the pre-season. On an individual basis it means that your child has the best chance to be actively involved in the game and that their contribution to the team and their skills are used to their full potential.
In addition to the grading/trial sessions in pre-season the club also communicates with coaches from the previous year to gage how a player may have progressed during the past season.
We don’t profess to always get it 100% right all the time however if your child participates in all of the announced grading sessions we hope to have a very good idea of where your child is best suited and where he/she will have the most enjoyable and successful season.
There are many talented young players (returning and new) and it is therefore not always an easy decision to fill the spots of a team as some players will be of similar ability. If you feel that your child has been misgraded (after attending all grading sessions) then we would of course be happy to discuss and give feedback as to why we have placed him/her in a certain team/division. Experience has shown us that with the positive support and encouragement from parents the player will thrive in his/her team.
What if my child misses a trial ?
Trials are run for 1-3 weeks in pre-season depending on age-group ie numbers of players registered in this age-group. If your child is unable to attend any of the trails please contact the appropriate age-coordinator prior to trial date. Returning players missing out on trial dates have the benefit of already being known to the club officials and will be easier to assess than new players ie it is important for new players to join the grading sessions to avoid disappointment of potentially being placed in a division they are not suited for.
